Steeple Bumpstead

10k Race & 3k Fun Run

Sunday 18th June 2017

 10k – 10.30am start   3k – 10.45am start

Following the huge success of the first two Steeple Bumpstead 10k races and 3k Fun Runs in 2015 and in 2016, we have decided to organise another event in 2017.  The course is a multi terrain route through undulating Essex countryside, taking in some beautiful scenery along the way.

Starting in the centre of Steeple Bumpstead, the 10k course takes you via a combination of grass tracks and private roads past the stunning Elizabethan Manor House of Moyns Park and into the picturesque village of Birdbrook. From here a gravel track takes runners back towards Steeple Bumpstead, to follow the course of the Bumpstead Brook. A final short loop and a downhill dash, finishing with a run through the church yard, into the playing fields to the sound of a roaring crowd!

The 3k course starts in the same way as the 10k, but peels off back into the village after the first hill.

New for this year

Enter the 3k and you may be in with a chance of winning your school a trophy and a morning of sports coaching with Premier Sport.

As part of the 3k fun run this year, we will be running an informal inter-schools cross country competition.  We would like as many local schools as possible to take part.  This will be an informal competition, rather than one organised by any school organisation, and as such the children would still be the responsibility of their parents at all times and not of their school.  However, the schools will be competing for a trophy as well as the chance to win a morning of sports coaching from Premier Sport. To qualify, a school will need at least 5 runners to take part.  The winning school will be the school with the 5 fastest qualifying runners.

The Village Hall has changing facilities, toilets, first aid and the opportunity to leave your bags.  There is car parking available on the playing fields as well as in the Village Hall car park.  There will be 1 water station along both the 10k route and the 3k route, and plenty of marshals to ensure that you don’t get lost.  There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female in the 10k and for 1st boy and 1st girl in the 3k.  All competitors will receive a medal at the end of the race.

There will be refreshments available at the end of the race including a Barbecue, cakes, hot and cold drinks

Registration will be available from 9am on Sunday 18th June
