Welcome back to our Spring Term 2016 and Happy New Year, we hope
you all enjoyed the Christmas holidays. We would like to thank all the children and the parents for the lovely Christmas cards and gifts we received.
As well as welcoming back all our returning children, we would like to welcome to Pre-School our new starters this term:-
Tobias, Mila, Florence, Sebby, Sophie, Shane and Leland.
Our committee members are Joanna King (Chairperson), Sarah Hughes (Vice Chairperson), Keely Pestell (Secretary), Laura Seymour (Treasurer), Vicki Taylor and Caroline Smith.
Please feel free to speak to them about Pre-School events and fundraising.
If you would be interested in getting involved and becoming a committee member or helping hands member, please speak to one of our current committee members at morning drop off or at the end of session, who would be delighted to talk to you.
Term Session Times & Lunch Club
This term sessions will operate, Monday to Friday, from 9am until 12 noon. Lunch club will also be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12 noon until 1pm at a cost of £3.82 per session. If you haven’t already included lunch club in your funding (or if your child is too young for funding) you can book these extra sessions on the day and you will be billed at the end of the month.
Ofsted Inspection – December 2015
As many of you know, an Ofsted inspection was carried out at the Pre-School in December. The report is due to be published shortly and we will send you a copy at that time. We were praised for the strong relationships between staff and children, the good standard of behaviour and for supporting the children’s independence. There were a number of points for development which the management and committee are addressing immediately. Please feel free to talk to Carol or a member of the committee if there are any matters you would like to discuss in more detail having read the report.
We would like to thank all the children and parents for taking part in our Wear a Christmas Jumper day, this raised £80.00 for Save the Children, Make a Wish and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Please keep registering on the Easyfundraising website (www.easyfundraising.org.uk) when you internet shop and we can continue to raise valuable funds for the Pre-School. The recent amount raised is on display on the notice board.
Bags 2 School
If you fancy having a clear out send any old soft toys, clothes, bags, shoes or fabrics our way. We gather them over a period of time and then arrange for Bags 2 School to come and collect them. They pay us by weight and so far we’ve raised almost £1000 in a year! The next collection date is 27th January 2016. Please bring any items to Pre-School in black bin liners or recycling bags. Please look at the Bags 2 School website www.bags2school.com for more details.
When the weather turns colder please can we ask that all children bring to Pre-School; named coats, scarves, gloves, hats and wellies. Our outdoor play area is available to the children throughout the Pre-School sessions. We want them to have fun but stay warm and safe!
Lunch Boxes, Water Bottles & Snack Time
Please can we ask that all lunch boxes, water bottles and snack pots brought into the setting are named (the children have several identical items) and also that they have water in them – not juice or squash. We regularly promote the importance of drinking lots of water and your support is appreciated. This will also help to get them into habits which they will continue when they move on from Pre-School.
If your child stays for lunch club they are welcome to bring a small carton of juice or squash.
We urgently need Parent Helpers, especially on a Wednesday to help us walk the Children to Stanley Drapkin Primary School for their visit. It is a great opportunity for you to see how we operate on a daily basis and have an insight into how your child enjoys their morning of learning through play, whilst beginning to form friendships with their peers.
Many of you have expressed an interest in coming to be a parent helper, please feel free to speak to either Carol or Teresa and sign yourselves in for a session. Thank you very much and we look forward to seeing as many of you helping out as possible, any day you can spare us would be very much appreciated.
Parent & Toddler Group
There is a Parent and Toddler Group that runs in the main hall every Tuesday during term time, from 10am-12 noon. The health visitor comes to the group on the 2nd Tuesday of every month and the cost is £3 per session. Please contact Teresa on 07805 061169 for more information or pop along for a visit.
Please can we remind you to regularly check the following:-
Your child’s folder (on the parent’s table).
The Pre-School notice board (located in the Hallway).
The white board- this is updated on a daily basis.
Keyperson details- this can be found on the balloon notice board in the Hall.
DATES FOR THE DIARY
Our big fundraising event for the year will take place on Sunday 26th June 2016 and is a 10k multi terrain race and a 3k Fun Run. We are hoping that this will become an annual event and the whole village will want to come along to support in some capacity, either as a runner, a marshal, a supporter or simply to enjoy the BBQ and festivities after the race is over.
If you wish to sign up for the 10K Race, please visit www.entrycentral.com . To enter the 3K Fun Run please contact the Pre-School directly or visit our website www.steeplebumpsteadpreschool.co.uk for an entry form.
We are also organising another village-wide Garage Sale this year. This is due to take place on Saturday 16th April. Further details will follow but please contact the Pre-School if you would like to become involved and sell some of your unwanted items.
